Dogtanion to release new single ‘Islam’

DogtanionDogtanion is the musical guise of Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau, a musician, film maker and artist based in London.

Matthew mixes electronic music with a folk approach to songwriting. In November 2011, he released the free EP, ‘Switzerland’ showcasing the electronic side to his music, featuring label mates Kerry Leatham, Peter Lyons and Mr James Bright.

Having studied Fine Art at Northumbria University, Matthew’s first musical endeavors led to him to being invited to play at Glastonbury festival. More recently, Matthew has been working with the Red Bull Studios London and recently completed a mix for their ‘Introducing’ series, as well as rehearsing at their studio in preparation for his live shows.

Dogtanion releases his debut album ‘Japan’ this summer through Tape Club Records.

Pablo Nouvelle releases debut single ‘Is It Ok’

Pablo NouvelleFeaturing live guitars, drum breaks, arpeggiating synths and the lush vocals of Fiona Daniel‘Is It Ok’ perfectly combines influences of music both past and present to create Pablo Nouvelle’s unique, deep soulful pop sound.

Describing his music as a mix of melancholic pop, modern soul and dance music, Pablo Nouvelle first entered the world of music producing hip hop beats. His love for hip hop eventually lead him to discover the soul music of the 60’s and 70’s, which opened a whole world of new inspiration.

Raised in Switzerland, Fabio Friedli AKA Pablo Nouvelle abandoned his studies as an architect student to study music and art in 2006 and created his alter ego after being inspired by French architect Jean Nouvel and the Nouvelle Vauge films of the 60’s.

Hollie Cook to support Stone Roses

hollie-cookThe announcement comes ahead of the release of her new album ‘In Dub’, released 21st May and lead single ‘And The Beat Goes On’, 30th April.

Legendary front man Ian Brown personally invited Hollie to support The Stone Roses after watching her live at The Jazz Cafe in late 2011. Having been invited down by her dad, Sex Pistol Paul CookIan Brown was not expecting anything but a night out with a good friend. So impressed by Hollie Cook’s performance was Brown, that he asked for a personal introduction to the young singer and invited her the very next day to support The Stone Roses, and feature on one of his solo tracks.

With the news of The Stone Roses show now public, Hollie Cook is preparing for the biggest show of her life (aside from her Jools Holland performance to 12 million TV viewers). When asking how she felt ahead of the show, Hollie Cook said:

It’s pretty much the most exciting and terrifying opportunity ever. It doesn’t seem real now and I’m not sure that it will! I’m extremely honoured.”

The summer of 2011 saw the release of her self-titled debut album which received critical acclaim from many and resulted in being on an array of ‘Top Albums of 2011’ lists including The Word, The Mirror and Rough Trade. Hollie’s self-coined ‘tropical pop’ sound stems from her passion for reggae singers Janet Kay and Phyllis Dillon combined with classic 60s girl groups. Singles ‘Body Beat’‘That Very Night’ and ‘Milk & Honey’ made waves gaining heavy support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, BBC 1Xtra, XFM, Kiss, Choice FM, culminating in a live Maida Vale session for Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and a Later… With Jools Holland performance on BBC 2.

This year see’s Hollie gearing up for the release of an album of new material and a 20-date tour, with notable performances confirmed at Bestival, Camp Bestival and The Vintage Festival.

Nneka preps ‘Soul Is Heavy’

Radio 1 have been getting behind new single “Shining Star”, which has received a superb remix from man of the moment, Joe Goddard (Hot Chip / 2 Bears)

The record has been playlisted on Radio 1Xtra and has received regular plays from Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Pete Tong and a Record of The Week placement on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 show. Additional support comes from John Kennedy on Xfm.

PhantogramPitchfork approved duo Phantogram are set to release their new EP ‘Nightlife’ through Barsuk Records on the 20th of February.

The band have built up an impressive online following with over 90,000 Facebook fans and critical praise for their debut album Eyelid Moves.

The band will be headlining a sold out show at Cargo on the 28th of February.
